Guildline Instruments is the premier world-wide supplier of ultra-precise electrical and temperature measurement instruments and standards. Many Guildline products are unique and represent the only commercially available instruments capable of accuracy in the sub parts-per-million range. The Company has been in business designing and manufacturing instruments for over half a century (i.e. since 1957) and has an outstanding reputation unparalleled in the field of electrical metrology. This reputation is validated with two Guildline products receiving the prestigious U.S. Industrial Research Award for “the most significant new products of the year”.

Our products are used for research and as the primary instrument with respect to establishing traceability to fundamental electrical standards. Key customer markets include national research laboratories, national metrology institutes, militaries, nuclear power plants, aerospace, and companies in the electrical and power industry. The sophisticated instrumentation and the subsequent ‘niche’ market required for ultra-precise measurements dictates that the Company operates on a global level, even though it is headquartered in Canada. Most leading electrical and temperature research laboratories and national metrology institutes throughout the world use Guildline products.

Guildline manufactures a broad range of metrological instrumentation including the world’s best Resistance Standards (both AC and DC), Resistance and Thermometry Bridges, Teraohmmeters, the world’s best DC Current Shunts, Wide Frequency AC Current Shunts, Transconductance Amplifiers, and AC Voltage References. The Company also builds digital thermometers, air baths, and the world’s best salinometers. Our calibration laboratory provides some of the best uncertainties commercially available, is ISO 17025 accredited for resistance, and can calibrate both Guildline and other manufacturers’ equipment.

Guildline’s blend of craft and technology is unique and is backed up by over half a century of commitment to our customers. For example in 1967 Guildline first shipped Direct Current Comparator (DCC) Bridges with permanent accuracy <0.1 ppm. More of these manual bridges (i.e. 9920 and 9975 models) were sold into primary research and laboratory institutes than any other manufacturer’s bridges. This is still true today with Guildline’s latest modular, expandable, 6622A series of automated bridges. With over 130 of these DCC bridges sold in the past five years it is the top selling DCC bridge in the world. Other firsts include temperature stabilized resistance standards, DC and AC shunts with uncertainties in the 20 ppm range, air baths with stability better than 0.03ºC, and most recently modular current sources / range extenders up to 3000A with built-in power supplies and digital switching.

Our instruments provide our customers with the widest range, best accuracies, and best uncertainties of any manufacturer. For resistance, the Company’s products measure the range from a micro-ohm to 20 peta-ohm (i.e. 10E-6 to 10E+16 ohm). For current, the range of operation is a 100fA to 3000A (i.e. 10E-10 to 10E3 amperes). And for voltage, the range is nV to 1000V (i.e. 10E-9 to 10E3 volt). For temperature, the Company’s products measure the range from -200 ºC to over 1000 ºC with accuracy and stability to 0.025 ºmK (i.e. 10E-5 ºC range). Typically our instruments measure in the sub parts-per-million (ppm) or parts-per-million range.

Our world-class engineering team continues to introduce many new innovations into electrical metrology instruments. Often our new instruments and standards are developed in collaboration with national laboratories including the National Research Council of Canada. Our new products are designed to be modular and expandable. Thus customers can order an instrument with the range of operation and uncertainties to meet existing requirements, but be assured that they can expand the capability of their Guildline instruments to meet future needs. In addition, expanded features, analysis and display options, and utilities to automate calibration procedures are provided with all of our newer instruments. This functionality provides additional value-add to our customers and is not matched by other electrical metrology companies.

The Company has very strong quality control procedures in place and is accredited to the ISO 17025 standard. Guildline products are typically used for at least 20 years and some have been in operation for more than 35 years. In fact Guildline provides a full two year warranty for both the operation of our products and a guarantee that they perform within our manufacturer’s specifications. No other electrical metrology company provides customers with the same warranty and guarantee as Guildline.

Performance and quality for over half a century!
